Position: Academic Support Aide
Job Description
Scope
The Academic Support Aide assists the Academic Support Staff in planning and preparing materials for use in small group and 1:1 instruction. They will conduct small group/1:1 instruction and assist in screening under the supervision and guidance of an Academic Support teacher. They will collaborate with the Academic Support staff and teachers to provide support for students and implement teacher directed instruction.
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
- A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
- A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
- Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith
Candidate shall possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with and encouraging students who learn differently
- Ability to manage groups of children in a positive, consistent manner-reflecting the love of Christ for students through their management of student groups and behavior
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Prepare instructional materials for teaching (gather materials, copy, create activities, etc.)
- Collect data and keep notes on student progress
- Maintain schedule for student groups with consistency
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, staff development trainings and book studies for continued growth
Outcomes
- Regular and on-going intervention for students in Academic Support
- Support Academic Support staff in progress monitoring (notes, data, DIBELS screening, etc.)
- Increase the ratio of support services provided in elementary and middle school
Reporting Relationship
The Academic Support Aide will have a dual reporting role to the Academic Support Teacher and the Educational Resources Director. |
